Customize the optincrusher to match your brand

August 23, 2010

in Training

A while ago I held a webcast and installed the optincrusher live for a few websites, including customizations to make it fit with the colors and logos.

More than just teaching you how to customize the optincrusher it turned out to be a fantastic tutorial about using a free graphics program (Inkscape) to create custom images for your website. I actually show you how to use Photoshop a little too.

You can download the HD version below the video. If you watch it here on this site, click the full screen button so that you get all the details.

Great tutorial but I am not seeing exactly how you retype the headline text and get the background to fit behind it. I am trying to re-write ‘Newsletter’ and the white text changes but I cant alter the shadow. it is a little quicjk on the video and what you do is just off screen

Daniel January 19, 2011 at 9:23 pm

It’s basically two text items. One is in front and the other behind. The one behind has a blur applied and is offset a bit to look like a shadow. You could use the layer move back/forward on the text elements to be able to select the one behind by putting it in front. You could also zoom way in to have a larger target. Best of luck.

Cav January 30, 2011 at 3:25 pm

Hi Daniel,

I love your plugin, but I’m having a problem getting it to work. Basically, when I enter my headline (in the optin call to action section) and hit the “update all settings” button, it is only saving the first ’15 characters’ and I can’t figure out how to correct it. Any suggestions?

Daniel January 31, 2011 at 7:17 am

There’s nothing that would limit it to 15 characters and I’ve had quite a few more on other sites. There might be a chance that you included some HTML or that your site is narrow and it’s spilling over to a second line and getting lost. I would just keep trying.

David February 19, 2011 at 3:44 pm

Can I move close button a bit higher? Or can I move Special Offer to the left of screen?

Daniel February 23, 2011 at 6:10 am

David, moving the close button should be easy enough. make sure it’s a standard form button and then you should find the css all in one place in the plugin.

Jamie March 3, 2011 at 12:52 pm

Daniel this is a great plugin. It’s super easy to use and customize. I have one issue I have not been able to accomplish. How do I remove the optin bar from my homepage? This has no id, etc. What code can I get to remove this option. We are in progress of building our service based website, so our blog is not our homepage otherwise this would not be an issue. For aesthetics we do not want the bar on the homepage. I was able to easily exclude everything that had an ID.

Any suggestions?

Thank you in advance!

Daniel March 3, 2011 at 1:02 pm

I don’t currently have an option to exclude from a homepage. That’s a good idea and will probably be added in the future. You might be able to add some code yourself. Just look through optincrusher.php to find where it excludes based on ID and add something like is_home() or is_front_page() (see

Hope that helps.

Jamie March 3, 2011 at 1:49 pm

Thanks for the tip, I do hope it is an added option in the near future as it would be rather handy.

I tried both and I keep getting an error on that line. I must admit I am pretty new to php and my skills are limited, though usually I can figure out what is needed. In this case I am lost as to exactly where to put it and tried several ways with no prevail!

I will move on for now and come back to it tomorrow and see if I can code it properly. Thank you!

Simo March 3, 2011 at 4:10 pm

Hi Daniel,
Thank you very much for this great plugin. i installed correctly in my website demo : but when i tested it by clicking in the Newsletter Subscribe Now, a part of the pop up box displayed under the main navigation bar of the website. try to look at it by pressing in the icon image.and another question :what do you mean by vertical offset and Horizontal offset ? i changed the vertical one to 3 to let the writing of Optin call to Action fit in the middle.

Thank you

Daniel March 3, 2011 at 4:33 pm

the offsets are for the main text title. They’re only sometimes necessary.

To fix the bit about the nav covering the pop-up you’ll need to change the CSS property for z-index to be higher than the navigation bar.

Paul Shutts March 15, 2011 at 1:41 pm

Can I make the thumbnail a bit larger in size over the runner? Also, can you run more than one optin on the site? Last question, sorry, I still can not figure how to exclude an entire category from running, or where to find the id?
I really like the optincrusher……

Daniel March 16, 2011 at 9:07 pm

You can do a lot to modify the look of the plugin. Have a look here:

You can only exclude pages/posts, not categories…

I’m glad you like it 🙂

Nick March 25, 2011 at 1:57 pm

The light box that pops up seems to not be integrating the Aweber form code correctly, in fact, neither did the regular generation of the form, i had to manually edit this. Is this a bug or is there a fix for this?

Daniel April 7, 2011 at 11:47 am

Nick, I’m not sure if it’s a bug or something unique to your installation, but I’ll make a note and take a look at some point.

Jason April 15, 2011 at 9:01 am

Hey Daniel do you know of a bug when using this with PlatformPro from pagelines?

All of my blogs that use that theme will not show the submit button correctly. Everything else is great it’s just the submit button is under the Name and Email boxes and cannot click it to submit. I know it’s the theme that’s doing it just wanted to know if you have a quick fix for this.

Jason April 15, 2011 at 3:22 pm

I have been working on it all day. I cannot get the submit button to get inline with the input fields. The button sits right below where it says “name” (left). I can change the top: to 60px and that brings everything up a little so I can see the top of the button but obvious that is not going to do it.
#optinform {
position: absolute;
white-space: nowrap;
top: 60px;
left: 365px;
Would you know anywhere else I could change to correct this. Normally I would have just moved on and found something else different, but I really love this plugin and what you are doing. Thanks Daniel for this plugin and your willingness to help everyone.

Daniel April 15, 2011 at 3:30 pm

If it’s an image submit button I’m not sure what the best choice is. You’ll have to edit the button.You can also change it to be a submit button.

It would also be helpful to have a URL so I can see what you’re seeing.

Jason April 15, 2011 at 5:26 pm

Thanks for getting back Daniel. Here is one of my test blogs where you can see. This is not a live site
I know I should have gave you that before. Just so there is no misunderstanding I have not edited the plugin at all. This is how it looked straight out of the box.

Daniel April 15, 2011 at 9:59 pm

It seems that your email solution (interspire) has inserted a hidden form field right before the submit button. Try moving that behind somewhere else inside the form. since it’s hidden it doesn’t matter where, so long as it’s between the <form> tags.

Jason April 16, 2011 at 1:19 pm

Daniel unfortunately for me that is not it. I thought of that and also it would not make sense if the exact same code works and looks fine on any other theme. I can disable the css for the theme and it comes up fine, but the website looks bad of course. I just wanted to be sure it had something to do with the theme’s css and the crusher.
It’s starting to look like this is going to remain a mystery. Again Thanks Daniel for all your help.

P.S. I just put 2 elements in just to make sure what you suggested was not it

First Name

And they are stacked right on top of each other in the crusher.

Jason April 16, 2011 at 2:20 pm

Daniel I’m free at last……
I figured it out. I decided to give it another try and found the problem in Theme.css
On line 199 I removed // “input[type=”submit”],” // That was effecting the submit input css with optincrusher.
I’m sure there is a better way of fixing this, but for now it’s all I got.

Anyways thanks for your help.

Andrew April 21, 2011 at 9:03 am

The crusher is a sweet plugin for wordpress. I love it and want to use it, but it is conflicting with another plugin that allows me to customize registration for my website. I want the crusher to direct people to my registration page, rather than get their information. The registration page is synced up with the site as CMS and with my email campaign manager. I just want the footer to clarify that users must register and to direct them to that page.

Can you help? Maybe there is a setting I can turn off or a bit of code that I can delete?

Thanks so much! Seriously love it.

Daniel April 21, 2011 at 12:01 pm

That sounds like a great use case for the optincrusher. What’s the registration plugin you’re using? I’m not sure a fix will come out soon, but I’ll add it to the list.

Andrew April 21, 2011 at 12:18 pm

Register Plus. Let me know if you fix or if there’s a simple thing I can do.

Thanks again,

Mike April 22, 2011 at 1:36 pm

Thank you so much for this. Clearly, you understand how to “over deliver.”

One question;

All things being equal – what are the opt in rates using Optin Chrusher vs a traditional delay load (3-5 seconds) light box?

Daniel April 22, 2011 at 3:00 pm

Mike, I haven’t done a formal split test so I can’t say what the difference in optin is between a forced lightbox and the optincrusher. The other metric to watch is bounce, since sometimes that can be a bit of a turn off. If you get that data, come post it here.

Randy Miramontez May 2, 2011 at 1:53 pm

I’m working on a new site for and the want to use your optincrusher on their site. I have it installed on their wordpress blog with no problems. However, when moving it to the website I am trying to figure out how to have the bar not pop up once someone has subscribed. I know in wordpress you have the code [optincrusher_thankyou], but that is strictly for wordpress.

Any suggestions?

Thanks. Really cool tool and I’m very impressed with your dedication to a FREE tool!

Daniel May 5, 2011 at 12:46 pm

I’m afraid you’ll have to figure out how to copy the code out for the cookie on your own if you’re using it outside of wordpress. All the code is there and it’s certainly possible to copy out, but it’s not something I support at the moment.

Jameson May 6, 2011 at 7:46 am

Hi Daniel,

I came across your magic plugin last summer after having tried a few other versions…

I decided to use it on my new website, however although the settings have all worked fine – the pop-up is not appearing. the attribution link is working, which suggests that everything is ok.

It may well be the theme I am using – I cannot use Easy Video Player with the theme either – I wonder if your plugin shares some of the same hooks that the theme does, have you come across this before and do you know of any workaround, pretty please?

Daniel May 11, 2011 at 10:58 pm

I don’t know of a workaround, but you may be able to make some modifications to the CSS on your own that would address this. You can also try a different theme to see if it will work better.

Marco May 8, 2011 at 12:15 am

Hi Daniel,

plugin is working great and optins keep on coming in, thanks again!
Now I do have a question about disabling the plugin for androids, Now there is an option to disable for iphone, not sure if this should have the same effect on androids? If it should it is not working for me. Any idea?

Daniel May 9, 2011 at 12:38 pm

It’s disabled for iphone by default (and I thought for android too). There’s just not enough real estate on screen to make it work. Are you seeing it come up on mobile devices? If so, which one?

Stuart May 16, 2011 at 12:43 pm

Just wanted to say a really huge thanks for all your hard work not only on creating this great plug in – but also the amazing content that supports it. I have followed every step and got it all working on my blog. In addition to all that – I have also downloaded InkScape too which is a great bonus.

Great work 🙂

chris September 17, 2011 at 8:57 pm

Hi there I am having a problem with this.

I have got it all working with my autoresponder but as soon as I enter my home page the light box pops up in the top rifht hand corner of the screen and there is no way of closing it.

Other than that nice plugin man.

Any ideas?

Daniel September 17, 2011 at 8:59 pm

It’s hard to say because you haven’t indicated what your site is…

Dale Buckey September 18, 2011 at 8:46 am

I have some time invested in this so I’d like to have Optin Crusher working correctly on my site(s), which it is not…

I’ve used Feedburner and followed the optin form details exactly. I’ve enabled your attribution link- which works perfectly and opens a to your site link. But that’s it? Your plugin does not appear.

Suggestions? I’m using NewWPtheme’s and have tried putting the code in both the footer area and the “theme” footer areas?

Daniel September 19, 2011 at 11:17 am

It should not be necessary to put anything in the header or footer manually. I suggest trying it with a basic theme and other plugins disabled and then add things back in until you find what’s breaking it.

Bob Smith September 19, 2011 at 2:53 pm

This is a terrific WP plugin. I am using it with MailChimp. Unfortunately, on the footer, the “Subscribe” button is not appearing next to the input fields. Instead it is showing up below the first footer field where it is barely visible (or clickable). How do I fix this?

Also, your video tutorial shows that you can change the wording in your “Subscribe” button but I do not see anyplace where I can do that on my version of Optincrusher.

Thanks for your help with these issues and keep up the great work!

Daniel September 19, 2011 at 9:14 pm

The optincrusher simply shows the HTML that you put in the form field. That’s where you can change what the submit button says and also change the HTML so that it displays in the correct spot.

Simon November 15, 2011 at 10:03 am

Hi, I installed optincrusher on my website and worked properly, but it had some issue with Digg Digg floating vertical bar, that hides the optinfooter in the initial position (top of the blog). Is it possible to fix that issue and having the optinfooter sliding over the Digg Digg bar ? tx

Daniel November 17, 2011 at 9:45 am

I’m not familiar with the Digg Digg bar, but you can try adjusting the z-index of either plugin to keep the one you want on top. Good luck.

Chris Murphy January 2, 2012 at 6:15 pm

Hi Daniel, in you Optincrusher Settings page, the app instructs me to paste [optincrusher_thankyou] exactly as it appears in the field, into your thank you page. This will enable your site to remember subscribers. Where in the page do I post it? I’m getting syntax errors depending on where I paste it.

Daniel January 3, 2012 at 10:04 am

What type of errors are you getting?

That shortcode will put a small bit of javascript on the thank you page and set a cookie on the users machine. That cookie will indicate to the optincrusher that it shouldn’t show for people that have already visited that page.

Xavi January 27, 2012 at 11:34 am

I love the optincrusher!

Some doubts:
– Is it possible to change the small “Special Offer” that shows up when you minimize the OC to a customized png?
– Also, I would like to remove the red arrow. How can I do it?

Daniel January 28, 2012 at 8:38 am

You can change these items in the source of the plugin. The files are unencrypted. You will need to understand some HTML, but it should be pretty straight forward.

justin March 12, 2012 at 1:26 am

hi Daniel, thanks for the awesome plugin. One question: is it possible to make the optincrusher always show minimized? Like just the small “Special Offer” button? Because full image uses too much space, so I think that people will see the special offer button and definitely click that small button 🙂 Thanks for the answer

Daniel March 12, 2012 at 9:51 pm

No, it’s not possible to show minimized by default, but you can have it remember their preference. That might help.

Vanessa April 9, 2012 at 10:57 pm

Awesome plugin! I want to use it with s2Member, but unfortunately, there is a conflict and I am getting an error message. It reads: “Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent….pluggable.php on line 687”. Is there any kind of a workaround so that I can use both of these plug-ins together? I have purchased the s2Member Pro version and I am using aWeber. I am not a coder and I don’t know what is possible to do with php code, much less being able to do it myself. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Daniel April 23, 2012 at 7:53 pm

I’m not sure where to start on this. Unfortunately I can’t support individual themes and plugin conflicts, but I wish you luck.

Aaron Isles May 20, 2012 at 3:05 am

Love the plug-in! Took about 45 minutes to set up properly, but it looks great and works well 🙂

One question though. I’d like to add a video link into the Optin/Lightbox Message once the bar is clicked. This would require that I expand the size of the optin box that appears. Is it easy to redefine the width and height of the Optin/Lightbox Message box (The one that appears when clicked and the background is grayed out).

If not, my video will have to be pretty darn small and not as effective…

Thanks again for this plug-in 🙂

Daniel May 21, 2012 at 8:32 pm

Hi Aaron,

This might be possible, but you would have to modify the plugin files. The good news is that you have them all with the plugin, so no big deal there. The hard part is knowing how to do it and unfortunately I don’t have resources right now to help you through it.

It is just HTML, so you might find some good tutorials online to help you with it.

Good luck!

Alejandro June 8, 2012 at 1:08 pm

Hello Daniel,

I just download the plugin and installed on my website (Is in spanish I am from Méxco) and let me tell you this is awesome, one of the best I have found so far, I was just about to ask some questions about how to change the Phrases “enter your email adrress” and the the text from the submitbutton to spanish because I just check the whole html code of the plugin, but I just found out, it is on the code that is generated once you enter your html code from the email service.

I had this comment half way written when it suddenly hit me, anyways, I still send it to you to tell you THANKS again for this plugin.

Daniel June 9, 2012 at 9:58 am

Thanks for the note. I’m glad you got it working!

Espen S June 11, 2012 at 6:00 am

Hi Daniel.
Great tool! Is there a way to customize the small button “Special offer”, that appears when you minimize the banner? I’d like to change the text to e.g. “Sign up”

Daniel June 11, 2012 at 6:50 am

That little image is included in the inkscape file. You should be able to make any change you like and then export the updated version.

Marcia July 11, 2012 at 3:30 am

Hi Daniel,

I migrated my site and now the background bar and the newsletter image doesn’t show up. The name and email boxes and the submit button show up, as does the minimize button.

At first I thought I missed some files in the transfer, but I deleted and reuploaded the plugin and still the same. Thoughts? Site is

Daniel July 11, 2012 at 7:04 am

Somehow the CSS for the plugin has been modified so that the CSS identifying the background has opening quotes, but not closing quotes. Add those back in and it should work fine.

Marcia July 12, 2012 at 3:12 pm

Weird. I didn’t fiddle with any of the files. I’m not sure where I’m supposed to make the modification exactly. Had a look at style.css and optincrusher.css but didn’t see anything with quotation marks.

Where do I need to make the change?

Daniel July 13, 2012 at 6:45 am

Marcia, I’m not sure how it got modified. You might try deleting the plugin and installing it again to see if it corrects itself. I suppose it’s also possible that your theme is munging the page content before it renders. You can view the source of your rendered page to see what I’m talking about. Your web developer may be able to help you work it through.

Marcia July 15, 2012 at 7:32 am

I deactivated WP Google Fonts plugin (it’s the only one I added after the migration) and optin crusher works fine, even after reactivating the fonts plugin. I continue to be amazed at how often that works and how long it takes me to think of trying it each time. Thanks for all your help. Much appreciated.

Richard July 16, 2012 at 7:33 pm

Hi Daniel.
Great plugin! I have a question about the plugin’s compatibility with wp emember. My site has content that is for members only, when someone registers on the site emember and aweber are integrated to add the contact. Will emember and optin crusher provide the same functionality? Thanks

Daniel July 16, 2012 at 10:12 pm

There is no integration, but they work side by side just fine.

Daniel July 24, 2012 at 12:24 am

Hi Daniel,

nice plugin, just starting to use it… two questions…

1. in FF it works fine, while in Chromium it is so low, that about 30% are below the Win Taskbar… where can I find the z-index (it’s not in css) and will changing it not tamper with the FF display?

2. do you have a way to make the cursor blink invitingly in the email field?

Daniel July 24, 2012 at 8:20 pm

1) That’s odd that it looks fine in Firefox and not in Chrome, but you can use chrome developer tools to try to fix it. You’ll want to double check your changes in FF.

Another option is to change your theme…

2) no, I’m not sure how to do this. It might be as easy as setting the focus on page load or on scroll up.

prince August 3, 2012 at 12:13 pm

sir can i shift optincrusher footer to top header?

can you help me how to and also optincrusher can move anywhere in my wordpress?

Daniel August 6, 2012 at 9:34 pm

Prince, I’m not sure what you mean by moving it in your wordpress. You can exclude it from certain pages/posts by providing the ID of that page/post in the settings page.

Jon October 16, 2012 at 1:48 pm

Great plugin. Is there away to center the entire area. Currently when you open this page to full width, everything goes to the left. Is there a way to center everything no matter what the screen size is?

I would be willing to pay for support.

Daniel October 16, 2012 at 8:42 pm

Jon, right now that isn’t possible.

Jason November 21, 2012 at 11:36 pm

Just playing around with this and I think it is great and easy to use. The only issue I am having is in integrating the html from my mail provider. I use and their custom form seems to be a bit different then the rest you have listed. Have you tried their system? The have a free trial if you want to see how it works. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Daniel November 26, 2012 at 8:04 am

I haven’t tried bombbomb. If their service can produce a raw HTML form, that should work fine. Just paste it in and process it the way you would any other service. My plugin doesn’t work with scripted forms, so you’ll need the raw html.

Jason November 28, 2012 at 3:22 pm

I think they have scripted forms from the look of it. I will see if they can give me the raw html.

chris November 27, 2012 at 6:05 am

Hi Daniel
I love optincrusher up to the point where others are also struggling. my name and e-mail boxes are not showing, I have tried to change the logo size on the left but to no avail.
Please can you suggest what to do as I really need this popup on my page.

Thanks in advance.

Daniel November 27, 2012 at 10:08 pm

It seems that your form input elements are rendering quite large. You could double check that all style elements are stripped out. You may also be able to use chrome developer tools to make some adjustments.

chris November 28, 2012 at 10:40 am

Thank you for the quick reply, but after 4 days of trying to get this working correctly, uninstalling and reinstalling and watching your video’s constantly I have given up.
It looks fantastic, but i just cannot get it to work.
Best of luck and thank you for the knowledge I have learn’t from this plug in.

chris December 8, 2012 at 11:25 am

Love this plug in! We have been trying different opt-in forms and this is the best by far. Both sites were up and running in just a few minutes. and

Don Bender December 29, 2012 at 5:55 am

Awesome plug in, and I absolutely love it. One problem I’m having, though, is that the Name and Email fields are so wide that the “Submit” button doesn’t even appear at the right of the Email field box at the bottom of my screeen. How do I shorten the width of the field boxes so that the “Submit” button shows up?! I’m using optincrusher integrated with Aweber.

Don Bender

Daniel January 2, 2013 at 6:26 pm

Your name and email fields are really long. You should shorten them. The submit button shows up fine after you fix that.

erikahappyarts January 7, 2013 at 11:44 am

Hello Daniel,
Thank you for the free software for the optin crusher. I found out that the set up in your videos about f.i. Mailchimp is totally differenent than the actual mailchimp. So it took me awhile to find out where it was. Fortunately for me I am reasonably handy with finding my way on such a site, despite the fact that I logged in for the first time today.
Now it is installed on my site finally with the email optin in it. I cannot add ‘name’, as this option is not in my screen at mailchimp. I would appreciate the name in the optin option but I can also do without. Can you help with this??
I managed to change the language of the submit button into Dutch, as most of my texts are Dutch, although the training itself is in Englis. Later I can always change that back to English. So far it is pretty good.
I have not had the chance to watch the video above, so I will soon.
However, what I really don’t understand is how to connect the optin for a free training, to this exact training as instant download. I added the mailchimp listform of a test-list, with no names in it. Please send me information how to do this.
Can I also add a new and second optin f.i. about my book? F.i. in the right upper corner and fixed like most sites? Hope to hearing from you soon. Much appreciated.

Daniel January 10, 2013 at 9:44 pm

Mailchimp has changed since I created the tutorial. In order to give training for an optin you could have your first email in your autoresponder send them to a page on your site that’s protected by a password which you include in that email. That page can have your training. Good luck.

Michael Branco January 8, 2013 at 12:02 pm

Thank you Daniel,
For 2 days now – I’ve been trying to get this to work. lol 🙂 – got it set up on my blog. followed the easy instructions (THANK YOU) – issue is with godaddy. They sent me the html code to input into the blog section. Did that – after you type in your name and email address it takes you to the webmailer.php file which suppose to send you to the thankyoupage and send out the email. Everything except me receiving the email from godaddy is working fine. Godaddy keeps giving me a run around on coding – they said i can change the php file. Could use a quick hand thanks… Michael

Daniel January 10, 2013 at 9:48 pm

I’m not sure what you need help with. The optincrusher appears to be showing fine. I’m not sure what autoresponder service you use, but they may be able to help you. Remember that optincrusher is not an autoresponder.

Sandy Halliday February 25, 2013 at 1:48 pm

Thanks for the great plugin Daniel.

I am having a problem with the text in the lightbox. The lines are too much on top of one another. Even though I add a line space it still does not look as your does. What’s the trick?

Daniel February 26, 2013 at 6:10 pm

Hi Sandy, You may have to change some of the CSS for your theme. The most likely attribute is line-spacing.

Brad March 4, 2013 at 2:30 pm

Is there any way to keep optin crusher from appearing on the home page. I’m trying to run a galery and it pops up under it on the home page but i cant list the home page as something to not pop up on because i dont know the page identity?

Daniel March 4, 2013 at 9:58 pm

There isn’t a way to prevent it from showing on the homepage. You can hide it on other pages, but not the homepage.

Steve March 9, 2013 at 3:37 pm

Good Day

First off, I would really like to thank you for the plug-in! It wasn’t necessarily plug and play for me, as the form fields were half way off the footer, and the light box was totally messed up.. But after a couple of days of trial and error (mainly because I don’t know what I’m doing, heh), and some modifications to the .css and .php, I believe it’s working and finally looking acceptable..

Outside of some customizations I’m going to start on now (great video you produced for that as well), I do still have one thing that I would like to change and just can’t figure out how to do it.. For some reason, the small special offer (click for details) button appears on the far left hand side of all my pages. How can I change this to show up on the far right side of my pages instead, so that it lines up better with the close button? Kind of cumbersome the way it is, and everywhere I see your plug-in used, it’s always on the right.

Not sure if I have conflicts with my theme (which in my case, is not an option to change), or I’m doing something wrong, or possibly just missing something simple (which very well could be the case). My site is and am using aweber as auto responder.. Again.. Thanks so much for the plug-in, and would really appreciate any assistance you could give me with this problem..

Daniel March 10, 2013 at 9:00 pm

The button showing up on the right is not common. There must be some conflict with the CSS. Your webmaster should be able to help you isolate that better.

There are so many different themes, it’s difficult to anticipate every choice a theme developer might make or where in the page the plugin will render.

Steve March 10, 2013 at 11:18 pm

Did you mean the button “NOT” showing up on the right is not common? As it shows up on the right of this page, and the other links I’ve noticed from this blog… It’s kinda sad to say, but I am the webmaster, and it’s definately been a rather large learning curve.. But I can’t figure this one out, and was hoping you might be able to add some insight as to where I might look for the problem, or maybe a css snipit to throw in the style sheet. If it helps, this is the theme I’m using . Thanks..

Hi Daniel,

Love your plugin! But having issues with my site The submit button is GONE in the form and the banner pop-up…

Can you please help??

Thank you!
Jordan Hansen

Daniel March 10, 2013 at 9:02 pm

You’re right. The submit button is gone. You should add it in. In other words, it’s not my plugin that’s leaving it out. You actually haven’t provided one. Try

Andreas March 27, 2013 at 9:13 am

Hi Daniel,

Firstly, great job on this plugin! I have all the praises for it. Just let me know where to leave a review?

Keep it up!!

Daniel March 30, 2013 at 5:18 pm

You just did Andreas! Thanks. It looks great on your site.

This is fantastic. Thank you so much! I was just about to write something like these. Suggest to everyone. Thanks!

Alex Zemkus May 4, 2013 at 12:00 am

Great plugin Daniel, love it. I just have one little problem and that is in the Lightbox popup the name and email fields don’t line up, they overlap. Could you point me in the right direction on how to fix this.

Apart from that everything was fairly easy to set up. Thanks again.

Daniel May 5, 2013 at 6:43 pm

Alex, it looks like you figured it out. Looks great!

Hi Daniel,

I love this optin! A couple of questions for you…

1) I use aweber and my Thank-You redirects them to another website. On the aweber set-up I checked the box to “Open in another window”. However, it isn’t doing that – it just opens in the same window (not what I want since it’s a separate website). How do I get around that?

2) If I want to capture phone numbers, which I had on my aweber form (but have removed for the time being), it appears that this optin doesn’t have that functionality. Is there a way to add that as well?

Daniel May 29, 2013 at 9:35 pm

1) When you process your form in my plugin it strips out other code. You’ll have to do some type of special work around, but I haven’t done it myself before so I’m not sure exactly how to advise.
2) You can add whatever you like in. I typically show it with just an email or a name and email since putting much more can be too much on screen.

I finally got the submit button to appear by moving position from left to right.

Anders July 19, 2013 at 4:20 am

Hi Daniel, this looks really good. Does it work with Squarespace?

Daniel July 19, 2013 at 7:02 am

Is that an app? No, it doesn’t integrate directly….

Kristian September 18, 2013 at 1:26 am

Great plugin! Love it!

But I have one problem. I get this message, when I activate the plugin:

Notice: has_cap was called with an argument that has been phased out since version 2.0! Usage of user levels for plugins and themes are phased out. Use roles and rights instead.

Do you know why?

Daniel September 18, 2013 at 6:44 am

I don’t know why, but it’s something I’ll look into. Meanwhile, it should still work.

brian September 23, 2013 at 12:53 pm

Do you happen to know if an auto hide feature will work? I was thinking something like
setTimeout(function() {
}, 10000); // <– time in milliseconds

If so where should I add the JS?

Daniel September 24, 2013 at 5:42 pm

Brian, I’m not sure about that change, but you can try it. It should be quick. The javascript is well isolated in the plugin files.

Freeco October 23, 2013 at 11:30 pm

Hi Daniel,
Great plug-in and great tutorials!
Is there a way to costumize it to work with RTL websites ans Hebrew fonts as well?
Thanks in advance.

Rashid Rupani October 24, 2013 at 3:35 am

Freeco, Yes, It is possible but you need to modify css.

Antonio January 4, 2014 at 4:52 pm

Dear Daniel, thanks a lot for this awesome optin, I really love it since its rerally easy to setup.

I have just 2 problems, u can see at my site

1-the size of the fields at the bottom bar. The email field size is pretty big so I can add a second field (name) since the subscribe button almost disappear.

2-On the lightbox, the size of the subscribe button is also bigger than I desire, and appears unaligned.

How can I fix those issues? what do I need to modify?

Anyway thanks for your job, I´ll recommend it everywhere

Rashid Rupani January 4, 2014 at 5:34 pm

Paste this code in to your Stylesheet. It will fix your issue

antonio January 5, 2014 at 5:32 am

Thanks, but where exactly should I paste this? Anywhere in the stylesheet?

Daniel January 6, 2014 at 7:13 am

In the plugin settings there is a field where you can provide custom CSS. There is no need to change any plugin files.

Antonio January 7, 2014 at 4:34 am

Thanks Daniel, I Don´t find this field to provide the custom css, I just can modify the optincrusher stylesheet. Therefore I have added the below code to the stylesheet, but everything remains the same.

I need to have the same field measures of your footbar.

#optincrusher form input {
padding: 0px!important;
margin: 0px!important;
width: 35%!important;
#optinform .submitbutton {
width: 23%!important;
padding: 3px 0px!important;
margin-top: -1px!important;
#lightbox-optinform input {
width: 57%!important;
#lightbox-optinform .submitbutton {
padding: 4px!important;

Daniel January 7, 2014 at 8:30 am

I just looked at your site. I suspect that there’s an issue with the other plugins. Your site looks great, but with all the dynamic plugins running to display photos, I’m not sure that my plugin will be effective or even work correctly. It’s likely to cover up the photos along the bottom.

Antonio January 8, 2014 at 1:24 am

Thanks Daniel, yes, the plugin cover the bottom photbar, but I dont really care about that, my concerns are more related to the size of the fields, both in the footbar and the lightbox. I dont know if you saw it, but the lightbox subscribe button is rather missaligned, and the fields size in the foot bar are much more bigger than yours.

Thanks a lot for your support.

Viorel March 20, 2014 at 2:56 pm

Greg April 3, 2014 at 1:45 am

Id like to change some text (and font perhaps) for example the submit button text.

Example would be

Can you point to the code I’d need to change? The settings do not seem to offer the option.

Rashid Rupani April 3, 2014 at 2:21 am

You need to edit css and then you can customize Fonts, colors etc.

Stenio April 17, 2014 at 7:33 am

Hi Daniel. I met your plugin for some time now and I wonder if he is currently compatible with the latest version of WordPress. Thanks for your support! Please, I wait for the answer!

Rashid Rupani April 18, 2014 at 1:26 pm

Yes, It works with latest version of WordPress

Stenio April 19, 2014 at 7:18 pm

Hey You! Thanks!

Daniel September 5, 2014 at 6:50 pm

It looks great.

1. Rashid may comment shortly on how to update this.
2. The current version doesn’t work with phones. I have an idea for mobile devices, but it’s not ready yet.
3. I plan to make instructions about how to use the thank you page shortcode. For now, you can view this:
